Stout

The line between stouts and porters is often blurred. In their early days stouts were called "stout porters" in reference to a stronger ABV and heftier body than the regular porters. The essential difference nowadays is the use of roasted barley in stouts, which imparts dry, roasty, coffee like flavors and aromas. Americans, of course, like to add lots of hops.
